NK GODDARD

All my life, I’ve loved science fiction and fantasy.  As an adult, I became fascinated with the spiritual nature of human, animal, and plant life alongside my study and fondness for science, especially physics and geology.  It’s a happy mix that offers me a rich contrast that entertains my imagination with characters and stories begging to be written.  When I was a teen, it was poetry.  Then, short stories. Now, the soon to be released novel, External link opens in new tab or windowSan Andreas Calling, the first of my series exploring the Spirit world in science and nature.

My research for External link opens in new tab or windowSan Andreas Calling was intense and continues to this day.  In addition to the usual research in academic articles and journals on earthquakes, geology, and magnetism, my husband and I took many trips to the actual San Andreas fault itself.   We studied maps, consulted the California Geological Survey tools, took unmarked roads, taking notes and photos all along the way.  Sometimes we walked right on top of the fault, sometimes along-side it, or if we couldn’t do that, we took even more photos, made pages of notes, and marked up maps.  Despite safety codes, we still found many structures built right on top of the fault or dangerously close by.

Dear readers, this fault is real.  Our road trips along the fault were awe inspiring and sobering.  This is a huge force of nature.

You can see it too, either in person via the External link opens in new tab or windowThe San Andreas Fault ROADTRIP GUIDE, or just through the travel-log and photo journal.  It’s FREE.  It’s a real-life photo-log with driving instructions, tips, and comments.
